Today, Ritmuller is known for producing high end pianos for Pearl River’s Asian and European markets.
History and Today
The Ritmuller Piano Company was founded in 1795 and soon thereafter became one of Europe’s most innovative piano manufacturers. Ritmuller created the double soundboard which gave birth to the characteristic of warm, rich tones, now known as the “Euro Sound.”
At present, new Ritmüller pianos are manufactured by the Pearl River Piano Group in the world’s largest piano factory.
After Pearl River’s acquisition of Ritmuller, they re-engineered the entire line to reflect a new commitment to a classic heritage and standard of excellence.
Pearl River Piano Group has hired the service of the international master piano designer Lothar Thomma to start with the basics of German authentic craftsmanship and craft a new piano standard based on the latest in international music science and technology.
Thomma and his staff carry on the legacy of excellence and innovation with the use of combined old world tradition and state-of-the-art computerized manufacturing procedures.
New Ritmuller Pianos
Under the supervision of Mr. Thomma, Ritmuller now offers three series of upright pianos; the Premium (available in six models), Prestige (available in six models) and Elite (Available in ten models) Series.
Their grand pianos are offered in four series, having the same name with the upright (Premium, Prestige and Elite) only with the addition of the Concert Grand Series. All grand pianos series are offered in two different models.
Ritmuller uses the aged music grade spruce for their soundboards that are matched a graded to match the grain of the piano. Imported Louis Renner hammers from Germany are used together with Roslau Music Wire for the strings.
All other parts of the pianos are ensured to be of high quality and performance class as they are personally chosen by Lothar Thomma, the internationally renowned European master piano designer.
